Ruth Maxine Peek, 89, of Liberal, passed away on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on June 21, 1929 to Thomas V. and Abbie Elnora (Rawlings) Harvey, on the family homestead near the Arkalon Township in Seward County, Kansas

On July 26, 1953 she married Claude Henry Peek at Clayton, NM; He preceded her in death on November 27, 2004

Ruth grew up in rural Seward County on a family homestead; one of 13 children. In her youth she took care of the family’s horses and chickens. After she married Claude she went to work with Blakemore Brothers Food Suppliers where she worked in the Advertising Dept. After working for Blakemore Brothers she took some time off to watch after her children. She then went to work at JC Penny and then Safeway where she worked as a Produce Manager. Ruth was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing. She also enjoyed watching over her grandchildren. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Liberal.

Ruth is survived by her Son- Bobbie D Peek of Liberal, KS; Two Daughters – Deborah Myers of Roosevelt, UT, Carla Loftis and husband Edward of Wheaton, MO; 10 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, and 11 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, 10 Brothers and two Sisters.

Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, January 3, 2019,  at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with David Vartian, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Arkalon Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
