Russell Dean Watson, 82, of Turpin, OK. passed away on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.

He was born on February 16, 1937 to Floyd and Viola (Tolly) Watson at Woodward, OK.

He was a graduate of Liberal High School; class of 1955. After high school he moved to Tulsa, OK to obtain his training in Electronics. Russell served in active duty with the US Army from 1959-1961. After serving in the Army he went to work at Gardner’s Dairy and then went to work with Rainbow Bread, where he worked for 14 years; leaving in 1978. He went on to work at Beech Aircraft until Beech left Liberal. After Beech he went to work with National Beef Packing Co as a Machinist; retiring in March of 2003. After retiring he still operated his own small machine shop and continued to work with National Beef on a contract basis. Russell enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, baking and metal-smithing. He was a former Liberal Lions Club Member and was a member of the South Church of God.

Russell is survived by his loving Wife- Lula of Turpin, OK., Daughter- Karia Lynn Groves of Liberal, KS., Son- Gary D Watson of Turpin, OK., Four Grandsons- Micheal Farmer and wife Ashley of Turpin, OK., Terry Farmer of Garden City, KS., Chris Gardener of MO., Russell Perry of Ogden, UT., Brother- Frank Watson of Centennial, CO., one niece and two nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters- Coeta Bortz and Marquitta Watson

Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, April 26, 2019, at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Miller Mortuary Chapel, ,with Stan Lehnert, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to the St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826
