Ruby Lee (Mires) Sherrill , 92, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS.
She was born May 3, 1922 at Baxter, TN, the daughter of William Thomas and Fanny Mae (Randolph) Mires.
She graduated from high school in Adams, Oklahoma. She was a long time resident of Liberal, KS having moved to Derby, KS in 2009.
She had worked as a hostess at Liberal Inn’s Branding Iron restaurant in Liberal, KS for many years. She was a member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ, Liberal.
On May 13, 1944, she married Harvey Sherrill at Guymon, OK. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2001.
She is survived by
3 Sons – Jerry Sherrill and wife Rose of Derby, KS
Alvin Sherrill and wife Doris of Ranchester, WY
Don Sherrill and wife Tonjua of Tulsa, OK
Brother – Charles Mires of Baxter, TN
Sister – Jane Boyd of Cooksville, TN
8 Grandchildren – Leslie Patrick, Angelia Sherrill, Jennifer N’tsouglo, Brian Sherrill, Wendy Sherrill, Anthony Sherrill, Kelly Sherrill and Rhianna Sherrill
10 Great-Grandchildren – Gage Patrick, Peyton Patrick, Carter Graham, Lucus Graham, Javanta Sherrill, Zoey Sherrill, Brayden Sherrill, Matthew Sherrill, Jackson Sherrill and Danell N’tsouglo
1 Great-Great Grandson – Carter Reeves
She was preceded in death by her Son – Roger Sherrill, Grandson – Dale Sherrill and Granddaughter – Brandy Sherrill
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday, May 29th at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with David Rine presiding. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 am – 8 pm Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 7-8 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
