Ruby Alsdurf-Morlen, age 83, a long time resident of Liberal returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Wheatridge Care Park Center in Liberal, KS.

She was born on February 10, 1936 in Atlanta, Texas to the late William Edward and Mary Ann Francis Whited.

Ruby raised four children with her late husband John W. Alsdurf, whom she married on April 4, 1965 in Clayton, New Mexico. She helped run the family business at John’s Mobile Truck Service and volunteered as a Reserve Deputy for several years. She was awarded two certificates for completing the Registered NRA Police Firearms Training Course as well as completing the approved course of fire and qualified as a police marksman. She also received a Certificate by the Liberal Area Vocational School for completing training in Adult Education in 1989. Her final job was at Southwest Daily Times until she retired. On June 1, 2004 she was united in marriage to her second love, Sherman Morlen at the First Christian Church in Liberal, Kansas, where both were members. Ruby’s hobbies included Bowling, Bingo and baking. She traveled on several Bowling leagues for many years and won countless tournaments acquiring trophies and plaques that she proudly displayed; this was by far her favorite pastime. Her children Ray, Patricia, and Dawn loved going to tournaments and bowling alongside their mother. Her jewels were her grandchildren whom she loved very much.

Ruby is survived by her husband Sherman Morlen of Liberal, KS; one son, Raymond Alsdurf and wife Stella of Bowie, Texas; two daughters, Patricia Alsdurf and Debra Dawn Patterson of Liberal, KS; 14 grandchildren, Angie Clifford, Travis Alsdurf, Shantel Fawcett, Danyell Alsdurf, Kevin Moore, David Moore, Pat Rodriguez, Robert Hickey, Alize Garcia, Angela Hickey, Jory Baldridge, Aaliyah Yazzie, Jennifer Lopez, Heath Patterson and David Dunbar; 38 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Lynn Dunbar; four brothers, James Driscoll, Lon, Jon and Cecil Whited; and one sister, Frances Ethel Mixon.

There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday May 7. 2019 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Terry Ford , officiating.
