Ruben Castillo Pichardo

Ruben Castillo Pichardo, age 49, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, February 17, 2020, at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born November 27, 1970, in San Marcos, Durango, Mexico, the son of Emilio and Celia (Pichardo Diaz) Castillo.

Ruben grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1986. He married Lucy Quiñonez on April 16, 2016, in Ulysses. Ruben was a hard worker and worked with his brother in construction. He was a devoted family man, and enjoyed grilling for his family and spending time outdoors. Ruben also enjoyed dancing, and being around horses. He attended Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Ruben is survived by his wife, Lucy Castillo of the home; children, Cristina Castillo of Garden City, Eric Ruben Castillo of Garden City, Patricia Cuaraque of Garden City, Nathalia Castillo of Ulysses, Mateo Castillo of Garden City; parents, Emilio and Celia Castillo of Mexico; brothers, Francisco Castillo of Ulysses, Rigoberto Castillo of Dallas, Texas, Emilio Castillo of Monterey, Mexico; sisters, Rosa Castillo of Wichita, Maria de los Angeles Castillo, Arcelia Castillo, and Matilde Castillo all of Mexico; and one grandson, Josiah Estrada.

Ruben is preceded in death by his brother, Isidoro Castillo Pichardo.

Vigil and rosary service will be Friday, February 21, 2020, at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, February 21, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
