Roy B. Williams, Jr., age 77, died Saturday, April 18, 2020, at his home in Grant County, Kansas. He was born December 20, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Roy Brandon Sr. and Genevieve Hazel (Carroll) Williams.
Roy received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University. He then served in the United States Army Reserves from 1966-1972. Roy married Paula Kay Smith on June 14, 1964, in Ulysses. He loved spending time traveling with his wife and family. Roy enjoyed camping, fishing, canoeing, and animals; especially cats, dogs, and moose. He was a Master Gardener and a private pilot. Roy served as a Boy Scout helper, was a member of Sons of Thunder, and attended Oasis Church. He held the patent on a valve he invented for Amoco Production. He was an entrepreneur at heart.
Roy is survived by his daughters, Julie Moral and husband Carlos of Ulysses, and Patti Williams and wife Kate of Arlington, Virginia; sister, Helen Zordel and husband Herbert of Wichita; six grandchildren, Brittney Seger and husband Tolan, Brandi Zamarripa and husband Austin, Bryce Moral and wife Mandy, Samuel Bosch, Elizabeth Bosch, and Braxton Moral; and four great-grandchildren, Haylee Jo Seger, Sutter Seger, Zoii Zamarripa, and Liam Moral.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Canning; and wife, Paula.
Private family funeral service will be Saturday, April 25, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Oasis Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Garrett Gretz officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery with military rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Visitation is Friday, April 24, 2020, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oasis Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
