Rosetta M. (Marrs) Thompson

Rosetta M. (Marrs) Thompson, age 100, died early Sunday morning, March 11, 2018, at the Minneola Long Term Care Center, Minneola, Kansas.
 
She was born February 19, 1918, in rural Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Rosa (McGuire) Marrs.  A lifetime Meade County resident, she was a homemaker.
 
She graduated from Meade High School, Meade, and lived in Meade over six years, where she worked until she married.  She married Lloyd Thompson on January 1, 1941, at the United Methodist Church in Liberal, Kansas.
 
She was a former member of the United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Plains Pinochle Club, Pleasant Home HDU Club, then later the EHU Club and the Plains Hobby Club.
 
She is survived by two sons, Dwane Thompson and wife Joyce,  and Darwin (Orb) Thompson and wife Tonya both of Plains; a daughter, Darla Malloux and husband Lionel of Haven, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband on March 12, 1994; an infant son; an infant sister; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Ralph LeeRoy, Marrion, and Franklin Marrs; two sisters, Ruby Whatley and Mazo Eccleston.
 
She loved working with figures and taking care of the books for the business, until August 1, 2003.  She loved keeping up her landscaping, doing hobbies with the hobby club friends, and when she was able, working in her flower beds, and playing pinochle cards.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
