Rosella Ann “Rose” Nikkel

Rosella Ann “Rose” Nikkel , 97, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at Emeritus/Liberal Springs Assisted Living, Liberal. She was born November 27, 1916 in Hooker, OK. The daughter of Abraham Aaron Wiens & Anna Klassen . On March 6, 1935 she married Leonard Hamm in Liberal, KS, he preceded her in death on October 5, 1973. She later married Harvey Nikkel on May 8, 1976 in Hooker, OK , he preceded her in death on August 26, 1990. She attended Neff country school in rural Hooker, OK., she has been a resident of Liberal since 1974, she was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Gospel of Grace Church of Hooker and attended First Baptist Church of Liberal. She was very active with her church and music, and was known for her very formal and informal hospitality, and was completely dedicated to her family and her church.

3 daughters Marcellene “Marcie” Isaac & husband Lee Hugoton, KS

Elaine Megert & husband Joe Scott City, KS

LaVonne Ramsey Liberal, KS

2 stepsons Larry Nikkel & wife Elaine Wichita , KS

Daryl Nikkel & wife Judy Wichita , KS

stepdaughter-in-law Nora Nikkel Elizabeth, CO

15 grandchildren: Del Hamm, Kevin Hamm, Les Isaac, Crystal Perry, Audra Christensen, Amber Frey, Eddie Joe Megert III, Shannon Cornell, Michael Ramsey, Todd Nikkel , Melanie Guilliot , Jeff Nikkel , Kerri Justus, Sheree Gerig , and Stephanie Harder.

30 great grandchildren

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Gellene Rose Hamm, 1 step-son Harvey Nikkel Jr., Five sisters: infant twin Rubina , Elsie Penner , Leona Nikkel , Evelyn Neufeld, and Delores Reimer.

There will be no public visitation.

A private family burial will take place at Hooker Cemetery , Hooker, OK

Memorial Service: 10:30 am Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Liberal, with Pastor Loren Robinson, officiating.

Memorial Contributions: May be given to Great Plains Christian Radio (KJIL) or Gospel for Asia in care of Brenneman Funeral Home-1212 W. 2nd-Liberal, KS 67901
