Rosario Degollado

Maria Del Rosario (Chayo) Degollado, age 46, of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born September 8, 1967 in Matehuala SLP Mexico, the daughter of Francisco and Lucila (Sanchez) Arevalo.

Rosario grew up in Mexico and was a kindergarten teacher. She moved to Ulysses in 1987 and married Alfredo Degollado on December 8, 1987. She loved caring for kids and operated a day care. She was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church; and enjoyed sewing and watching movies.

She is survived by her husband, Alfredo of their home; three sons, Alfredo Degollado Jr., Rodrigo Degollado, and Alejandro Degollado all of Ulysses, Kansas; one daughter, Nayeli Degollado of Ulysses, Kansas; mother, Lucila Arevalo of Matehuala SLP Mexico; five brothers, Roberto Arevalo, Arturo Arevalo, Francisco Arevalo Jr., Miguel Angel Arevalo, and Cesar Arevalo all of Mexico; three sisters, Emma Arevalo, Trinidad Arevalo both of Mexico, and Dora Degollado of Ulysses, Kansas; and one grandson, Alfredo Degollado III.

She is preceded in death by her father, Francisco.

Vigil service will be held Friday, May 09, 2014 at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, May 08, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, May 09, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
