Ronald Martin

Ronald Martin, age 80, of Ulysses, Kansas died Friday, September 18, 2015 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born July 6, 1935 in Tribune, Kansas, the son of Bill and Leona (Becker) Martin.
Ronald grew up in Tribune and graduated from Tribune High School. Ronald married Wilma Burch, his high school sweetheart, on June 7, 1953 in Tribune. They enjoyed each others company for 62 years. In his younger years, Ronald worked on oil rigs. He also was a crop duster pilot, mechanic, and retired from driving truck for Yellow Freight in 1998. He was a man of many talents; if something needed fixed he could do it. In 1976, he built the home he and Wilma lived in. Ronald enjoyed the friendship of everyone he met. He was also an advisor and mentor to his sons. He enjoyed playing dominoes, reading and meeting his friends for coffee. Ronald was a member of the Oasis Church in Ulysses.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of their home; sons, Frank Martin and wife Stephanie of Holcomb, Kansas, Larry Martin and wife Sherri of Hugoton, Kansas, Dennis Martin and wife GeJuan of Ulysses, Kansas; brother, Delbert Martin and Wife Nancy of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister-in-law, Dorothy Martin of Tribune, Kansas; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gene and Bob; and two brothers, Lawrence and LeRoy Martin.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Oasis Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Richard Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Respiratory Department in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
