Ronald Kay Kendrick, age 83, of Johnson, Kansas, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, Colorado. He was born September 20, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Elmer (Roundie) and Arlyn (Bender) Kendrick.

Ron grew up in Johnson, Kansas, and enjoyed riding horses, hunting, fishing and playing the trumpet. He graduated from Kansas University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. In the early years, Ron operated the John Deere dealership in Johnson and was a lifelong farmer. He also earned his Commercial pilot’s license and had single-engine, multi-engine, and instrument ratings. Ron was Scoutmaster to Troop 145 for 17 years, and was an active member and Charter President of the Stanton County Jaycees and the Stanton County Chamber of Commerce, was on the Johnson City Council, Stanton County Hospital Board, and the Stanton County Airport Board.

On June 23, 1957, Ron married Barbara Houf at Colorado Springs, Colorado, she survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Mark and wife Amie Kendrick of Colby, Kansas, Gary and wife Brenda, and Bret and wife Robyn all of Johnson, Kansas; two daughters, Julie Brincks of Melcher, Iowa, and Lyn Finnegan and husband Greg of Parker, Colorado; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be Monday, February 12, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson with Pastor Kurt Rovenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2018, at 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. Memorials may be given to the Stanton County Scholarship Foundation or to the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
