Rohn Kester

Rohn Kester, 59, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, in Trenton, Nebraska. He was born at the Hamilton County Hospital on February 22, 1965, in Syracuse, Kansas. The son of Thomas and Betty Kester, he grew up in Syracuse where he attended Syracuse High School graduating in 1983.

Rohn’s career spanned decades as a skilled home builder. A master carpenter, mason, and finisher. He had the rare opportunity to develop homes in many places, including Kansas, Colorado, California, Hawaii, and Nebraska. He particularly loved period renovations and the historical preservation of classic homes. His latest project included the restoration of a 1915 farmhouse in Southwest Nebraska. A generous lifetime spent contributing his time and efforts to noble projects.

As a passionate sports fan who consistently supported his favorite teams, the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos, he remained well versed in the games. As a lifelong fan of numerous major, minor and high school leagues, his passion included visiting countless ballparks across the country. He also found peace from the outdoors and landscapes near lakes and mountains. That solace combined with the shared experiences with friends and family brought joy to the hearts of so many.

Rohn cherished his family, leaving behind a son Joshua Kester and his wife Deanna; a daughter Jordan and her husband Henry; four grandchildren MaKinzie, Joslyne, Matilda, Isabella; three brothers Rick, Ryan, and Rod Kester, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances. Rohn, was preceded in death by his parents Thomas J. and Betty Kester (Weckerly), brother Randy and sister Robbin.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. (MST), on Friday December 13, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Syracuse, with Minister Dave Keeton officiating. Interment will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery.

Rohn will be dearly missed, but the love he shared with his family and friends will forever remain in our hearts. As a faithful attendee of the Christian Church in Syracuse, Rohn found comfort and healing in the ministry and congregation the Church provided.
