Rodney Dean Ratzlaff

Rodney Dean Ratzlaff, 71, died October 20, 2018 at SunPorch in Dodge City.  He was born on October 1, 1947 in Dodge City, the son of John and Betty (Peaster) Ratzlaff.

Rodney served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, stationed in Georgia. While there, he married Vivian Williams on October 26, 1969. In 1972 Rodney began working for Speed King, where he remained for 42 years, until retiring in 2014.

Rodney enjoyed spending time at the Kansas Genealogical Society, studying his family ancestry. He also loved his 1957 Chevy, as well as working on the computer doing photo restorations.

Rodney is survived by his wife Vivian; children, Sherry Askew and husband John of Dodge City, David Ratzlaff and wife Crystal of Turpin, OK, and Jason Ratzlaff and wife Edali of Phillipsburg; 13 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sister Linda Martin and husband Robert of Ensign; and his beloved dog Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service and burial will be held at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 1:30 PM.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Fight Colorectal Cancer in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com
