Robert Walter “Robby” Clingan, Jr., age 71, long-time resident of Liberal, Kansas, died Friday, March 15, 2024, in Sun City, Arizona.
Robby was born on June 14th, 1952 in Stillwater, OK, to Robert “Bob” and Margaret “Marg” Clingan. The family moved to Liberal in 1956. He attended Lincoln Elementary, West Junior High and graduated from Liberal High School in 1970. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. He worked at the family business, Clingan Tires, for over 40 years where he served as Store Manager, eventually serving as President. Robby was known for his passion and innate talent for music. An accomplished musician, Robby was a masterful pianist and also played guitar, sang, wrote, composed and recorded his own music.
Survivors include his children Mandy Clingan Scholz of Manhattan, KS, Jesse Clingan of Nashville, TN, Lindsay (Dan) Newton of Manhattan, KS, and Ramey (Greg) Colgan of Colleyville, TX; his mother Marg Clingan of Sun City, AZ; his brother Randy (Tami) Clingan of Mission Viejo, CA; his sister Melinda (Jim) Wills of Sun City, AZ; his grandchildren: Colby and Kyle Scholz; Molly, Sawyer, Asher, and Jacob Newton; Abbe, Andrew, Makenna, and Ben Colgan; nephews, nieces, their spouses and children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Clingan.
Robby is loved and will be dearly missed.
