Robert James “Bob” Granite, 79, of Liberal, KS passed away on Sunday
June 6, 2021 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS.
He was born on April 26, 1942 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of
Joseph and Verna (Patishnock) Granite.
He married Carolyn Kay Harris February 4, 1967 at Big Spring, TX; they
were blessed with two children Michael and Alycia.
Bob attended elementary school in Clarence, PA and went on to graduate
from Bald Eagle area High School in Milesburg, PA in 1961. In 1961 he
joined the US Air Force where he was a jet mechanic. After discharge
from the Air Force he worked on road construction on Interstate 80. He
had various jobs during his lifetime including Coalminer, Hanover PA
Canning, Road Construction, Civil Service, Roadway Truck Stop, Truck
Driver for National Carriers, Ideal Foods, American Freight, FedEx.
Yellow Freight, and Beech Air Craft. Bob Served on the Mid America Air
Museum Board for 10 years. Bob was also active throughout his life and
had many hobbies; he was a private pilot, he liked to reload bullets,
enjoyed guns & shooting. He loved animals and liked to talk with people;
he never met a stranger.
Bob was proud of his service in the Air Force and kept in touch with
several of his Air Force buddies.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Carolyn; son, Michael James Granite
of Wichita, KS; daughter, Alycia Ann Hitchcock and husband Will of
Olympia, WA; two granddaughters, Faith Renee Salyer and husband Braxton
of Bethany, OK, Laney Michele Hitchcock of Olympia, WA; step-grandsons,
Josh Hitchcock and Adam Wheeler; sister, Doris Shaw and husband Mick of
Snow Show, PA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing will be 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday June 10th at Miller Mortuary
with the family present to greet friends from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Friday June 11th at South Church of
God with Pastor Presephonie Fuller officiating.
