Robert Edmisson

Robert R. Edmisson, age 98, of Johnson, Kansas, passed away June 20, 2019, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, Kansas. He was born May 16, 1921, in Englewood, Kansas, the son of George I. Edmisson and Maude E. Drake Edmisson.

He married Beulah M. Salmans on March 30, 1947, in Johnson. She died on December 24, 2016. Bob lived most of his 98 years in Johnson. He and Beulah worked side by side selling Farm Bureau Insurance in Johnson for 38 years. Bob was very civic minded: serving Johnson on the City Council for over 40 years; being on the Southwest Kansas Regional Planning Commission; being a Boy Scout leader; serving in numerous ways at the United Methodist Church of Johnson including Administrative Board Chair and on the Building Committee for the addition to the church building. He also served by going on a mission trip to Haiti. Bob was always willing to help people in any way he could.

A veteran Of World War II, he served our country in the U. S. Army Air Corps in England. Bob was a crew chief mechanic on the B 24 Liberator bombers. Flying was one of his life pleasures.

He deeply loved God, his family, country, and community.

The family wants to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Stanton County Long Term Care Unit for their love and care for Bob.

Surviving are one son, Delmar (Jo) Edmisson of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Vicki (Don) Stogsdill of Prosper, Texas; and five grandchildren, Greg (Julie) Edmisson of Johnson, Kansas; Rob (Gina) Edmisson of St Joseph, Missouri; Rob (Nancy) Stogsdill of Prosper, Texas; Mike (Michelle) Stogsdill of Bloomington, Illinois; Amy (David) Leathery of Normal, Illinois; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six siblings, and one great-grandson, Corbin Dean Edmisson.

Celebration of life service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Mary Courtney officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas, with military rites by VFW Post 3684. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family members present on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
