Robert E. “Bob” Hood

Robert E. “Bob” Hood, age 96, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, KS.

Robert Ellsworth Hood was born May 5, 1919 at the farm in Texas County, Oklahoma, the son of L. O. and Myrtle (Claggett) Hood.

He was a 1936 high school graduate of the New Mexico Military Institute. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army from 1944 – 46 during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines and was awarded a Bronze Star.

He was a farmer and rancher in Texas County, Oklahoma. He was a local businessman. In 1939, he became a partner in Hood Chevrolet and then in 1956, he helped get the first cable television started in Liberal, KS.

On October 1, 1996, he married Dilla Rodkey in Liberal, KS. She survives.

1 Daughter, Lisa K. Hood of Boulder, CO

6 Step-Children

1 Grandson, Robin J. Hood, Jr. of Tyrone, OK

3 Great-Grandsons, Tucker J. Hood; Keifer J. Hood and Konner J. Hood and wife McKensie.

He was preceded in death by 1 Sister, Mildred Brower.

Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Monday, January 4, 2016 at Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone, OK with Pastor Terry Ford presiding. The public is invited to attend.

Visitation will be 1 – 5 pm Sunday and 9 am – Noon on Monday at Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seward County United Way in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
