Robert Dean “Bob” Carlile

Robert Dean “Bob” Carlile, age 74, died January 6, 2012 at Southwest
Medical Center, Liberal, KS.
He was born March 10, 1937 at Liberal, KS to Jack and Myrtle (Black) Carlile.
Bob was a 1955 graduate of Liberal High School .
He was the owner of J & R Sand Company, Inc. since 1959 and was currently

Chairman of the Board.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, a past board
member of the USD 480 Board of Education and a member of several highway
construction organizations. He was currently serving his 3rd term as
Liberal City Commissioner. Bob was the General Manager of the Liberal
Bee Jays, a 2008 inductee to the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame and in
2010, he was inducted into the National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame.
He was recognized by the Liberal community with several awards including
the 2007 Chamber of Commerce Merit Award, Citizen Of The Year in 2008,
and was among those chosen for the Chamber’s People of Distinction 2012 Calendar.
On June 3, 1957, he married Virginia Sue Weaver at Clayton , NM . She died
July 4, 2006.
On October 17, 2008, he married Danita Lee Way Buchman at Perryton , TX .
She survives.

2 Stepsons- Zach Buchman and wife Mirella of Liberal, KS
Cody Buchman of Liberal, KS
7 Grandchildren – Casie Graves and Fiancé Jonathan Yowell, Courtney
Carlile, Jordan Carlile, Hannah Carlile and Erynn Sue Carlile,
Step-grandchildren – Scarlett Buchman and Luke Buchman.
1 Great-granddaughter – Jayden Graves
2 Brothers – Bernard Carlile and wife Lonetta of Liberal, KS
Buster Carlile and wife Lee of Edmond, OK
He was preceded in death by 3 Brothers- Jerry, Bill and Don Carlile.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 12th at the Seward
County Activities Center with Rev. Wyatt Carpenter presiding. Former Bee
Jay players, Rev. Scott Hamilton and Rev. Paul Husband will be
officiating a ceremonial committal at Brent Gould Field on the campus of
Seward County Community College/Area Technical School immediately
following the services. A private graveside service will be held for the
family.
Visitation will be 9 am – 8 pm Wednesday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to the
Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church or the Liberal Bee Jays in care of
Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal , KS 67901 .
