Robert Bevan

Robert Bevan, age 91, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas. He was born November 8, 1927, at home in Stevens County, Kansas, the son of Floyd and Grace (Gregg) Bevan.
Robert graduated from Center High School in Center, Colorado. He married Elsie Mae Watkins on April 15, 1951, in Center. As a young man, Robert participated in Mission Work through the church. He helped build a cabin in the Colorado Mountains, and also worked in Arizona. After Robert moved back to Kansas, he farmed in Stevens County. He enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making toys for his great-grandchildren, which he loved spending time with. Robert was a member of Bethel Friends Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeanette Bevan of Hugoton; brother, Willie Bevan of Macksville; sisters, Wilma Kinser of Medicine Lodge, and Lois Ellis of Washington State; three grandchildren, Stacy Bevan, Jamie Mason, and Christopher Mason; and eight great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie in 2014; son, Stacy Wayne Bevan; brother, Delbert Bevan; and sisters, Thelma VanDenbergh, Ida Ruth Kinser, and Elva Root.
Graveside service will be Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Hugoton Cemetery with Larry Kinser officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be given to Kansas Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
