Robert “Alan” Thomas

Robert “Alan” Thomas, age 55, died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on December 8, 1967, the son of Ivan and Thelma (Horn) Thomas in Gallop, New Mexico.

Alan was united in marriage to Joanna Thomas on November 15, 2008, in Liberal, Kansas. He worked as a foreman for National Carriers. Alan loved spending his time with his grandchildren, fishing, watching the Texas Rangers play baseball, and Pittsburg Steelers play football. He also enjoyed spending his time doing woodwork.

He is survived by his wife, Joanna Thomas of Liberal, stepson, Robert Rodriguez of Fort Stockton, Texas, stepdaughter, Penny Rodriguez of Liberal, two brothers, Howard Johnson, and David Thomas, three sisters, Sue Bell, Barbara Antrim, and Kathy Johnson, two grandchildren, Zenner Rodriguez Sumner, and Kovin Rodriguez Sumner, many nephews and nieces including his nephew David Alan Thomas, and niece, Tiffany Thomas.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Thelma Thomas, and stepbrother, Rickey Thomas.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, November 24, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM to receive friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

A burial to follow at the Liberal Cemetery
