Rick Swartz: UPDATE

Rick Swartz, 61, of Tyrone, Oklahoma passed away September 12, 2011 at his home.

Rick was born December 6, 1950 in Beaver, Oklahoma, the son of James Stephen and Betty LoRie Booth Swartz. He attended school in Arizona and Tyrone, graduating from Liberal High School with the Class of 1968. He then attended West Texas State University in Lubbock, Texas and finished his education at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas, being a part of the first graduating class.

Rick began working for Mid American Diesel in Liberal. On September 12, 1970 in Liberal, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Jill Douglas. They lived in Liberal and in 1979 moved to Tyrone where Rick built their home.

He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing for trout, trucks, fast cars and OU football. He enjoyed keeping up with his friends on Facebook. He loved his grandkids and was Pa to many.

Proceeding in death were his parents and step-dad Fred Arthur.

Survivors include his wife Jill of the home; three daughters, Jamie Rogers, Kellie Rae Swartz both of Tyrone, Oklahoma and Rici Swartz of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Betty Gayle Stevens and husband, Darrel of Omaha, Nebraska, and Petty Elliott and husband Frank of Edmond, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Garrett Lee, Taylor James, and Saige Rai.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Tyrone Baptist Church in Tyrone, Oklahoma with Rev. Gary Stone officiating. Interment will be in the Tyrone Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorials are suggested to the Tyrone Fire Department or the Leader Dogs for the Blind and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma, 73945.
