Richard S. Everett, age 80, died Sunday, March 17, 2024, at his home in Johnson, Kansas. He was born on February 15, 1944, in Dalhart, Texas, the son of Gerald Thomas and Elizabeth (Rawlins) Everett.

Richard grew up in Clayton, New Mexico, where he graduated from high school. He then served in the United States Army for three and a half years, and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany. Richard married Walburga Scharzbaur on March 24, 1966, in Germany. After his Honorable Discharge they returned to Clayton and then moved to Johnson a short time later. He worked for Gene and Van Lynn Floyd at Floyd Feed Yard for 31 years and then retired from M&G Farms. Richard was a member of the Johnson VFW Post #3684, was an EMTI for Stanton County EMS, was the coordinator for SWKS Health Initiative. Richard’s hobbies included being a HAMM Radio operator, gardening, collecting models, M&M and Snoopy memorabilia, and was an avid drag racing fan. Richard’s family was very important to him, and he loved them dearly.

Richard is survived by his wife, Walli of Johnson; son, James Everett of Guymon, Oklahoma; daughter, Peggy Bradley and husband, Jeff, of Eagle, Wisconsin; brother, David Everett of Tennessee; sisters, Dawn Mactaggert of Amarillo, Texas, and Marilynn McAlister of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Caitlin Everett-Klaus and husband, Joe, Joshua B. Smith, and Leighton Everett Bradley; and great-grandchildren, Ayden Small and Adelynn Smith.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; Gerald and Elizabeth Everett; one brother, Ed Everett; and one grandson, Joshua B. Smith.

Family will greet friends on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
