Richard Leon “Lee” Grogan

Richard Leon “Lee” Grogan, 84, passed away on December 6, 2023, at Pioneer Manor, in Hugoton, Kansas.
He was born on June 27th, 1939 in Rolla, Kansas to Sport and Evalena (Brollier) Grogan.
After graduating from Hugoton High School in 1958, he was drafted by the Army. He served for three years, most of that time in Germany. Following his discharge from the Army he traveled around the country working in various places. It was in Fort Collins, Colorado that he met and married Carole Anne Force in 1967. They were blessed with three sons Brett Lee, Blane Lyn, and Brad Lyle.
After moving to Hugoton, Kansas in 1973, Lee bought the family homestead northwest of Hugoton. Starting with two acres he grew his herd to around 80 before he had to start retiring. Lee worked full-time at Stevens County Road Department until he retired at 62.
Lee and Carole followed their boys to countless games, meets, and matches over the years all three were in Little Britches Rodeo riding broncs and bulls. Lee loved watching them compete.
Dementia resulted in him moving to Pioneer Manor his home for the past four years. Those surviving Lee are his wife, Carole; three sons, Brett Grogan and wife, Sabine of Pasco, WA., Blane Grogan of Hugoton, KS., Brad Grogan of Lubbock, TX.; brother, Dean Grogan of Fort Collins, CO.; three grandchildren Kaitlin, Darius, and Brecklyn; and numerous of other relatives and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Jessica Grogan, and granddaughter, Myah.
A memorial has been established for Alzheimer’s Association, in the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and family will be present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home, 314 S. Van Buren Street in Hugoton, Kansas.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Hugoton with Pastor Terry Miller presiding—burial to follow at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.
Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton is overseeing the arrangements.
