Richard Lee “Butch” Young, age 63, died suddenly on Friday, November 20, 2020 at his home in Liberal, Kansas

Butch was born November 26, 1956 in Bradenton, Florida, to William and Joyce (Wolking) Young. He Graduated from Garden City High School in 1974.

He married Juanita “Nita” Brungardt July 18, 1973 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Butch worked as a driller, tester, and water truck driver in the oil fields

He enjoyed taking care of family, loved listening to music. He was happy in the outdoors camping and fishing. He adored watching the kids doing sporting events.

Butch was the beloved husband of Nita for 47 Years

The proud father of Bret Young and his wife Denita of Dodge City, Kansas. Stephanie Hall of Wichita, Kansas.

Kelli Bigham of Liberal Kansas. Brother of William “Bill” Young and his wife Gayle of Amarillo, Texas.

Proud Grandfather of 10 and Great Grandfather of 2.

He is also the loving uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He was the son in law of Kenny Brungardt and Betty Miller. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Price, son in law Bud Bigham.

Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 West 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas 67901

Private services were held for family only.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial contributions suggested to Angels for Animals in care of the Hornung Family Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
