Richard L. Canton, age 48, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 29, 2018, at the Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.
 
He was born January 24, 1970, at Houston, Texas, the son of LeRoss and Sharon I. (O’Connor) Canton.  As a young boy he attended the Fowler school system.  He later attended Dodge City Community College.  A longtime resident of Meade County, he was a carpenter and woodworker.
 
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.  He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
 
On August 14, 1994, he married Susan A. Searles at Fowler, Kansas.  She surivives.
 
Other survivors include a son, Drew Canton of Cimarron, Kansas; a daughter, Chelsea Canton of Meade, Kansas; three brothers, Robert Canton of Tennessee, Mike Canton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Brett Kendrick of Utah; two sisters, Jackie Trask of Maine, and Deanna Croson of Mayflower, Arkansas; and two grandchildren.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade.  Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.  Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
 
The family would welcome memorials to the Richard Canton Memorial Fund in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
