Reida N. Houtz

Reida N. Houtz, age 79, died Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born April 20, 1941, in Hardesty, Oklahoma, the daughter of Paul R. and Emma N. (Ford) Hale.
Reida moved to Liberal at the age of four years. She married Jim Houtz on September 20, 1957, and their family moved to Elkhart in 1963. Reida received her GED in 1973 through Seward County Community College. She was a homemaker as well as the Bakery Manager for 10 years at Ideal Foods Grocery Store. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s fan, enjoyed reading, and loved following her grandkids in all their actives.
Reida is survived by her husband, Jim of their home; sons, Maurice “Moe” Paul Houtz and wife Marla of Elkhart, Brett Alan Houtz and wife Margaret of Ozawkie, Kansas, John Charles Houtz and wife Terri of Elkhart, and Jimmy Dean Houtz also of Elkhart; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Reida is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gene Hale, Roy Hale, and Toby Hale; and sister, Myrna Witzke.
