Rebecca “Becky” Teeter

Rebecca “Becky” Teeter, age 60, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born August 4, 1954 in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Albert “Shorty” and Shirley Jane (Gerstberger) Kuriyama.
Becky was raised in Ulysses, Kansas and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1972. She moved to Johnson in 1976 and back to Ulysses in 2012. Becky married Monty Jay Teeter on September 16, 1972 in Ulysses. She was the Secretary-Treasurer of Teeter Irrigation for 38 years. Becky was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, sang with the Rainbow Rappers, Children’s Church director, and served on the Administration and Pastor Parish Council. Becky enjoyed being a member of the Noname’ Society of Johnson, Kansas. She was a current member of the Oasis Church in Ulysses, a long-time board member of Great Plains Christian Radio Station, and played many many years of softball. Becky was a public speaker for Silver Boxes based on the book by Florence Littauer. She was a devout wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a caretaker and caregiver of everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Monty Teeter of their home; son, John Teeter and wife Cassie of Ulysses, Kansas; daughter, Whitney Berglund and husband Brian of Ulysses, Kansas; mother, Shirley Kuriyama of Amarillo, Texas, sisters, Cindy Kuriyama of Amarillo, Texas, Nancy Laurent of Dimmitt, Texas; brothers, Stan Kuriyama of Granby, Colorado, Kevin Kuriyama of Plainview, Texas, Kurt Kuriyama of Guymon, Oklahoma, Kelly Kuriyama of Houston, Texas along with their families; grandchildren, Macee LaRae Teeter, Kael Daniel Teeter, Quincy Jay Sierra, Stryker Trey Berglund, Lilee Brielle Teeter, and Banx Anthony Berglund.
Becky is preceded in death her father, Albert “Shorty” Kuriyama.
Funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Grant County Civic Center Walker Auditorium in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Kris Humphrey and Reverend Neil Blair officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Immediately following for all friends and family that attend, there will be a catered meal back at the Civic Center. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
