Raymond Mendes

Raymond Mendes, 84 passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.

He leaves behind wife Phyllis Mendes of Hugoton, KS, three stepchildren: daughter Samantha Hancock and her husband Bill Hancock of Colby, KS, son Mark Ackerman of Moultrie, GA and his wife Amirah (Wokaty) Ackerman, and daughter Shannon Nordyke and husband Paul Nordyke of Hugoton. He also had seven grandchildren: Zackery Roybal, Alexis Hancock, Cory Wokaty, Kayce Ackerman, Kayle Ackerman, Karessa Nordyke, and Austin Nordyke. Brothers Harold Mendes of Montana, Robert Mendes of California and sisters Margaret Mendes of California, Elsie Lampman of North Carolina, and Donna Lopez of Puerto Rico.

Raymond was born to Frank and Margaret (Bagge) Mendes in Fairfield, California, on June 6, 1937. He is preceded in death by parents Frank and Margaret, son Raymond Mendes, as well as brothers Leonard Mendes, David Mendes, John Mendes, and sister Frances Myrick.

He lived in Hooker, OK before moving to Hugoton, KS 21 years ago. Raymond was a truck driver for Martin Trucking and Southwest Trucking Inc. before retiring to spend his days fishing.

Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Robson Funeral Home of Hugoton, KS. Funeral will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church at 10:00A.M.

Visitation will be Monday, November 22, 2021, 10 AM to 6 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton, Kansas.
