Ramona Lea Wadley Duer of Hooker, Oklahoma went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 5, 2022, at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 5 days in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was born November 30, 1928, in Tyrone, Oklahoma, the second of four girls, to Weldon and Zolene Sapp Wadley.
She graduated from Tyrone High School with class of 1946 and attended one semester of college at Panhandle A&M.
Ramona was married in Tyrone to C. Dale Duer of Hooker, on August 17, 1947. They lived in Hooker until 1949 when they moved to the family farm 4 ½ miles southeast of Hooker where they lived until their deaths. They were members of Hooker First Baptist Church.
Ramona spent her life as a farmer’s wife working alongside of Dale doing whatever needed to be done from driving a grain truck during harvest, to herding cattle or pigs, to fixing meals. She worked for a few years at Hooker Library until computers started being used.
In 1949, Dalene Gaye was born followed by Jenice Rae in 1950 and Kerry Lee in 1955. Motherhood was the job she enjoyed the most.
Preceding her to heaven were her parents, Weldon and Zolene Wadley, her parents-in-law, Cecil and Elizabeth Duer, her husband, Dale Duer, her sister, Juana DuBois (Loren), her sister-in-law, Nonie Rapp (Shelly), and her 3 brothers-in-law, Raymond Duer, B G Burdge, and Gene Weber.
Surviving her are her 2 sisters, Weldene Burdge Weber of Claremore, OK and Leah Fowler (Bob) of Hooker, her 3 children: Dalene Doyle (Howard) of Goodyear, AZ, Jenice Short (Jim) of Enid, OK, and Kerry Duer (Candice) of Hooker, 9 grandchildren: Elise Millette (Chad) of Goodyear, Patrick Doyle (Jessica) of Goodyear, Margo Short of Enid, Joslyn Knighton (David) of Woodland Park, CO, Bryce Short (Alanda) of Dover, OK, Erin Allred (Ben) of Shawnee, OK, Bobby Welch (Jennifer) of Albuquerque, NM, Case Duer (Liz) of Liberal, KS, and Lane Duer (Jessica) of Hooker, plus 34 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are being held on Saturday, October 8, at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Hooker with Pastor Mike McReynolds officiating. Interment will be in Hooker Cemetery. Funeral services under direction of Robert Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Hooker Library or the charity of their choice.
