Ralph DeSelms, age 92, of Aurora, Colorado formerly of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at New Dawn Memory Care in Aurora, Colorado. He was born January 8, 1922 in Stafford County, Kansas, the son of Emery Schultz and Alta Eliza (Allmon) DeSelms.

Ralph, a farmer for many years, married Thelma Wood on February 1, 1959 in Ulysses. Ralph was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses and enjoyed spending time with friends at the Grant County Senior Center.

He is survived by his son, Tom DeSelms of Aurora, Colorado; step-son, Marvin Shelite; brother, Leland DeSelms; grandson, Nicholas DeSelms; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma; step-son, Elvin Shelite; step-daughters, Loretta Herman, Lenora Howard, Joanna Alexander; brother, Arthur; and sisters, Edna and Lucille.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Janet Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
