Ralph Amerin

After many years of hard work and loving his family, Ralph Amerin went home on August 24, 2023, in Johnson, Kansas. He was born May 4, 1929, in Plains, Kansas, the son of John and Anna (Schield) Amerin.
Ralph grew up in Plains and graduated from Plains High School. He met and later married Virginia Gertner on November 28, 1950, in Sterling, Colorado. They moved to Stanton County in 1954. Ralph was a farmer and father to two boys, Jim and Bill, and three girls, Kathy, Cheryl, and Carol. He cherished the time spent with his family and many friends. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and the oldest active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ralph is survived by his children, Kathy Lippert and husband Brian of St. George, Kansas, Jim Amerin and wife Lori, Cheryl Wilkerson and husband Tony, Carol Garrison, and Bill Amerin and wife Candee all of Johnson; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, E.G. Amerin of Plains; and two sisters, Marge Kramer of Ulysses and Angie Ebeling of Plainview, Texas.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Amerin; wife, Virginia Amerin; brother, John R. Amerin, Jr.; and sisters, Anna Marie Banker and Betty Mansell.
Rosary will be at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, and funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, both at the St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson, Kansas, with Reverend Charles Seiwert officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
