Purn David (PD) Edwards, Jr., age 101, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 8, 2019, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler, Kansas.

He was born February 2, 1917, in rural Fowler, Kansas, The son of Purn David and Clarabelle (Zortman) Edwards.  As a young boy he attended school in rural Fowler.  After his schooling, he began farming with his family in rural Meade County.

On September 29, 1940, he married Evelyn LaFay Padgett at Liberal, Kansas.  After their marriage, the couple later moved to Eads, Colorado, where he worked for the township for several years.  After thirty years in Colorado, the couple returned to rural Fowler where he continued to farm.

He was a member of the Fowler First Christian Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, hunting for arrowheads, listening to music, and taking long walks.

He is survived by a son, Bruce Edwards and wife Alice of Shawnee, Kansas; a daughter, Konda Hollandsworth and husband Fred of rural Meade, Kansas; five grandchildren, Caleb, Pauletta, John, and Brian; and two great-grandchildren, Aerial and Jacob.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn on December 16, 2007; a brother, Jay; and six sisters, Jessie, Blanche, Georgie, Myrtle, Mae, and Viola.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Fowler First Christian Church.  Private burial has taken place in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.

The family would welcome memorials to the Fowler First Christian Church in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
