Pedro “Pete” L. Perez, a loving and devoted husband, father, and hardworking truck driver, passed away on September 24, 2023, in Hugoton, Kansas. His loving family surrounded him during his last moments. Pete was born on January 26, 1968, in Brownfield, Texas. He was the son of Victor R. Perez and Maria Louise (Longoria) Perez.
Pete was passionate about hard work and took great pride in being a truck driver. His dedication to his profession was evident in everything he did. Whether it was long hours on the road or ensuring the careful handling of cargo, Pete approached every task with heartful determination and a strong work ethic.
Outside of his career, Pete’s greatest joy came from his family. He shared an unbreakable bond with his wife, Amber Perez. They were rarely seen apart and were considered quite the duo by those who knew them. Their love and devotion to each other served as an inspiration to all who witnessed it.
Pete leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. His children meant the world to him and were his guiding light, filling his days with happiness and love. He instilled a great deal of knowledge by teaching them everything they know about sports, the art of driving, all things cars and trucks, riding dirt bikes, and everything in between. His constant support was heard in the cheers at sporting events, seen in the smiles at birthday parties, and felt in the regular visits to his daughter, even if it meant cross-state drives. Every effort he made was to make sure his beloved children felt his love and presence in every important moment of their lives. Desirae, Cody, and Karson will always feel his guiding hand, hear his laughter in happy times, and feel his love during challenges and victories.
In addition to being a dedicated husband and father, Pete had many interests and hobbies. He had a passion for collecting cars and trucks and had amassed an impressive collection over the years. Working on his vehicles and sharing his knowledge with others brought him immense happiness.
Pete’s warm and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew him. He will forever be remembered for his love, kindness, and unwavering support. He was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear, positively impacting the lives of those around him.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, Victor Perez; his two brothers, Victor Perez Jr. and Manuel Perez; his paternal grandparents, Manuel and Enriqueta Perez; and his maternal grandparents, Raul and Dogracia Longoria. Their memory will be cherished alongside Pete’s.
