Pearl Forbes

Pearl Forbes, age 97, of Owasso, Oklahoma and formerly of Elkhart, Kansas, died September 22, 2015, at Sequoyah Pointe Living Center in Owasso, Oklahoma. She was born May 31, 1918, in Elkhart, Kansas the daughter of Robert and Roxie (Miller) Quigley.
Pearl grew up in Elkhart and graduated from Elkhart High School. She earned her teaching degree and for a time taught school. Pearl moved back to the Quigley homestead and farmed and raised cattle. Her creativity showed in everything she did. She was an accomplished welder and woodworker. Pearl enjoyed designing and building furniture. She built the cabinets in her home, and was an incredible seamstress; sewing dresses for her daughter, with no pattern. Pearl also enjoyed being around people and her energetic and fun personality was shared with many friends. Pearl was a member of the Baptist faith. She lived in Elkhart until recently moving to Oklahoma to be near family.
Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie Griswold of Owasso, Oklahoma; and two grandsons, James and Jason Griswold.
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Glen Quigley, Vuren Reeves, Olive Davis, and her twin, Merle Quigley.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Ed Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart. There will be no public calling hours.
