Pauline May Way

Pauline May Way, age 84, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
She as born October 20, 1933, at Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd H. and Jessie F. (Thorpe) Ringer. As a young girl, she attended school in Scottsville, Kansas, graduating in 1952. She later furthered her education attending college in Superior, Nebraska, Marymount in Salina, and later receiving her degree in education from Fort Hays State University. She later attended Kansas State University where she received her Masters Degree. A resident of Garden City for many years, she was an elementary teacher for twenty-five years and later taught at an alternative school in Garden City for five years before retiring from teaching. After her retirement in 2006, she moved to Meade, Kansas.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Kansas Association of Personnel, Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Fraternal Order Of Eagles, Kansas State University Alumni Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Kappa International, Fort Hays State University Alumni Association, and the Beam Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking, listening to country music, sending cards of many local residents, teaching, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.
On September 3, 1956, she married Kenneth J. Way at Scott City, Kansas. He precedes her in death on June 9, 2013.
She is survived by her children, Deb Boley of Meade, Kansas, Jimmie Lee Way of Brush, Colorado, Scottie Dee Way of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Ronnie Vee Way of Mount Pleasant, Texas; a sister, Maxine Smith of Jamestown, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Lloyd A. (Duke) Ringer; and a grandson, Damon R. Way.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the Meade Elementary School Lunch Program in care of the funeral home.
