Pauline G. Phillips

Pauline G. Phillips, age 103, died early Monday morning, November 4, 2013, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born June 27, 1910, at Mokelumne Hill, California, the daughter of William Thomas and Delores (Suarez) Robinson. As a young girl, she attended school in Stockton, California.

In October, 1927, she married William Rickers. After their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Plains. In 1949, William passed away. On April 2, 1954, she married Paul Phillips. She then moved to Meade and worked as a waitress and telephone operator.

She was a member of the Untied Methodist Church; a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as a past worthy matron; a fifty year member of the Rebekah Lodge, serving as a past noble grand; the Alpha Social and Study Club; and the Slimmer Trimmer Club. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and farming.

She is survived by:

A son, Harold Rickers of Plains, Kansas

A daughter, Carol Lockhart of Bryan, Texas

A sister, Lorraine O’Rourkey of Oakland, California

Twelve grandchildren Twenty-five great-grandchildren Several great-great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husbands, William Rickers and Paul Phillips; parents; a brother, Harold Robinson; a sister, Evelyn Chapman; and a grandson, William “Bill” Rickers.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will take place in the Plains Cemetery at a later date. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas, has been entrusted with arrangements.
