Paula Kay Williams

Paula Kay Williams, age 73, of Ulysses, Kansas died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born July 20, 1941 in Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Jasper E. and Elizabeth M. (Walker) Smith.

During her elementary school years, her family moved to rural Grant County, Kansas. She graduated as salutatorian from Ulysses High School in 1959 and from Emporia State Teachers College in 1963 with a degree in Elementary Education. Paula taught at OK Elementary School in Wichita, Kansas and later taught 3rd and 4th grade at Hickok Elementary School and 6th grade at Kepley Middle School until she retired in 2002. Paula married Roy B. Williams Jr. on June 14, 1964. She enjoyed attending church, having accepted Christ at an early age. Paula loved traveling, and visited every state and Canadian province. She especially enjoyed time in Colorado at her cabin. Paula was an avid teapot collector, with over 500 teapots in her collection. She also loved attending and hosting tea parties. Her pride and joy were her six grandchildren. She loved attending their school events and traveling to Virginia to visit them. She was their biggest fan.

She is survived by her husband, Roy of the home; two daughters, Julie Moral and husband Carlos of Ulysses, Kansas, Patti Williams and wife Kate of Arlington, Virginia; sister, Sandy Kennedy and husband Joe of Great Bend, Kansas; brother, Larry Smith and wife Nancy of Ulysses, Kansas; six grandchildren, Brittney Seger and husband Tolan, Brandi Zamarripa and husband Austin, Bryce Moral, Samuel Bosch, Elizabeth Bosch, Braxton Moral; and one great-granddaughter, Haylee Seger.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Oasis Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Kris Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oasis Church Building Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
