Paula Ann Park

Paula Ann Park, 60, Liberal, died Monday, December 7, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born June 10, 1960 in Orange County, California, the daughter of Dale and Barbara Ann (Peak) House.  On February 16, 1984 she was united in marriage to Dennis E. Park in Liberal, Kansas, and they celebrated 36 years of marriage.  Paula was a graduate of Ulysses High School, a long-time resident of Liberal with the love of her life, husband Dennis, an office manager in the dental and medical field, and a member of the Women’s Golfing Association of Willow Tree Golf Course.  She loved to spend time with family, with people in general, and never knew a stranger.  Paula loved being a Bulldog, shopping, baking, sewing, crocheting, playing board games, golf, and most of all traveling.  Her favorite place was the beach or cruising on the ocean.  She spent a lifetime working in the dental and medical field for Dr. Yount, Dr. Farmer, and the latest being Dr. Kaminski, where she was the office manager for the last twenty years.

Paula’s three grandchildren, Kyler, Kahne, and Kendyl were the light of her life.  She loved the kids’ sporting events, school events, and loved watching them race.  Paula was the most kind, giving, unselfish, hardworking, and humble person.  She could light up a room with her smile and infectious laugh.  She battled so many health problems throughout her life, but you would never know it, because she was always smiling and happy.  Paula would always put others first and never wanted praise or recognition for the things she did.

Paula’s last nine months were spent living in Quinter.  She called it her “Happy Place”.  She was surrounded by so many amazing friends, doctors, nurses, therapists, and kids by the dozens.  She was a grandma/Meme to so many.  Kids would constantly come up and give her hugs and stop by to visit.

Survivors include her husband Dennis E. Park of Liberal, a daughter: Kayla Johnson and husband CJ of Quinter, two brothers: David House and David Lewis Davis, two sisters: Dalene Holton and Debbie Cypret and husband Danny, three grandchildren: Kyler, Kahne, and Kendyl Johnson, and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Lawrence and Hugh, a sister: Debra, and many other family members.

Paula didn’t want a service of any kind, especially with the Covid restrictions.  She wanted people to stay safe and to remember fun and happy memories about her and her beautiful life that she was blessed with.  Her message to all is “Don’t Worry Be Happy”.  This was the song she wanted everyone to remember her by.  Instead of flowers and plants, a memorial contribution in her name has been set up at Quinter schools for athletic programs, clubs, and classes.  This is something that she found important and knew that it could help kids in the Quinter community that she called her “Happy Place”.  Memorials can be made to the Paula Park Memorial Fund, Quinter Schools, P.O. Box 540, Quinter, KS  67752.  Condolences and memories of Paula may be shared through Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home at www.haysmemorial.com
