Patricia Emma “Pat” King

Patricia Emma “Pat” King, 85, died, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.

She was born October 27, 1927 in Smith Center, KS, the daughter of Hugh and Marion (Clark) Henderson. She graduated in 1945 from Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, KS.

She moved to Liberal in 1953 when her husband established Light & King Plumbing Co. where she worked as the bookkeeper. In 1976, King Enterprises was established as a partnership with them and their two sons. After the semi-retirement of her husband in1992, they became annual snowbirds in Safford, AZ.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women Circle 6.
She was recently honored nationally for her 50 years of membership in PEO, Chapter FA. She was a member of the Liberal Country Club and was a past officer of the Ladies Golf Association, and a past member of the Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She loved painting and playing golf.

On January 24, 1947, she married Wayne Denton King in Phillipsburg, KS. He died on December 6, 2012.

2 Sons Rodney King and wife Lesley Liberal, KS
Tracy King and wife Debbie Liberal, KS

1 Daughter Janet Bird and husband Roger Kismet, KS

4 Grandchildren Becky Bird, Kismet, KS, Andrew King and fiancée Ashley Powers, Junction City, KS, Ryan Bird and wife Leigh, Sublette, KS and Kassi Westerman and husband Tyler, Snyder, TX
4 Great-grandchildren Brayleigh McGinley, Kyler Bird, Ryan Westerman and Avery Bird.
Many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents and one brother Robert Henderson.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, Feb. 4th at the First United Methodist Church, Liberal.

Cremation has taken place.

A greeting time with the family will be held from 1-3 pm Sunday at Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901
