Overend Otis “Cookie” Cook

Overend Otis “Cookie” Cook, age 94, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Moore County Hospital in Dumas, TX. He was born December 9, 1920 in Grand Cane, LA the son of Clyde and Fannie Belle (Pharis) Cook.
He moved to Liberal in 1946 after serving in the Army Air Force, during WWII from Oct. 8, 1940 to October 14, 1945. He served a 2 year tour in India. In 2010 he moved to Dumas, TX to reside with his daughter Susan Hudson.
He worked for the City of Liberal for 25 years, serving as a Police Officer for 15 years and in the Sanitation Department for 10 years.
He was a member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association and the VFW.
On July 9, 1948, he married Jessie Beck in Overton, TX. She died January 13, 2004.

Nancy Cypret and husband Mike Liberal, KS
1 Brother Danny Cook New London, TX
2 Sisters Berta Smires New London, TX
Shirley Gibbs Overton, TX
10 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and 1 Brother Norman Cook, 2 Sisters Jo Bewley and Elsie Moffett and 1 Grandson Troy Strange.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday December 10, 2015, at Restlawn Cemetery with Grandson Cameron Strange presiding. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #80.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
