Oscar Gilberto “la Borre” Gandara

Oscar Gilberto “la Borre” Gandara, age 37, died Thursday, September 15, 2022, in St. Paul, Minnesota. La Borre died of injuries received in a drilling rig accident in North Dakota.

He was born on April 15, 1985, the son of Frederico and Juana Gandara in Rosales, Chihuahua, Mexico.

La Borre was united in marriage to his loving wife, Elida Omaira Gandara, on February 14, 2008, in Mesa, Arizona. He graduated high school and was working for Black Hawk Energy Service as a Relief Operator.

La Borre was a great sport enthusiast, and never missed watching his favorite sports, which included soccer, both Mexican and American, and basketball. There was a great fun rivalry between la Borre and his brother, Alonso, who cheered for the opposing soccer teams in Mexico. He loved his nieces and nephews and spending time with his wife and daughters. La Borre enjoyed fishing and was an excellent cook with deep frying his specialty.

His mother, Juana (Lopez) Gandara
Two brothers, Alonso Gandara, and
Luis F. “Lico” Gandara

His father, Frederico Gandara

Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, the Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2022, both services at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 23, 2022, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas. Rev. Juan Salas celebrating.

Graveside service will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
