Norman Hatfield

FOWLER – Norman (Cokey) Hatfield, age 79, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020, at the Minneola District Hospital, Minneola, Kansas.
He was born December 13, 1940, at rural Fowler, Kansas, the son of Howard E. and Lorene (Mahieu) Hatfield. As a young boy, he attended the Fowler school system, graduating from Fowler High School in 1958. After his graduation, he began his career as a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Fowler; the Meade County Roping Club; was active in organizing the Meade County Rodeo and was instrumental in the building of the indoor arena at the Meade County Fair Grounds. He enjoyed roping, team roping, working with horses, and spending time with his family and friends.
On July 11, 1958, he married Jean Mendenhall at Fowler. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Rick of Lawton, Oklahoma, Keith of Jacksonville, Florida, and Les of Glendale, Arizona; a daughter, Karen of Fowler; a sister, Sherri Copple of Berthoud, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don Hatfield; and a sister, Carol Stanley.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2020, at the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to The Cross Rodeo Bible Camp in care of the funeral home.
