Norman D. Blehm, now resting peacefully, lived a wonderful life of 92 years. He died Monday, May 6, 2024, at home at Western Prairie Assisted Living in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born November 14, 1931, in Galatia, Kansas, the son of Ruben and Edna (Ochs) Blehm.

Norman married Diane Scranton on February 19, 1950, in Ulysses, Kansas. He was a farmer, avid sports fan, fisherman and swimmer. He swam laps almost every day of his life and was still swimming up to his 90th birthday. His family has many fond memories of their time together. Many of those memories include fishing trips to Lake Texhoma and listening to his stories. Norman was a very gifted farmer and had the ability to fix anything that was broken or not working. He was a great cook…everyone loved his frequent fish fries. He loved his family through his generous actions of service and care. He drove his wife and daughter all over the state to watch his grandkids ball games…never missed one.

Norman is survived by his daughter, Debbie Bell of Ulysses; two grandsons, Brett Bell and Brady Bell; and eight great-grandchildren.

Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Diane; son, Duane; parents, brother, Robert Blehm; and sister, Lois Cheek and husband, Gerald.

Private family inurnment will be at the Ulysses Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
