Norma Jean Thornton 87, died, Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS
She was born May 21, 1928 in Duncan, OK the daughter of Ona and Claudia Wilkinson. She attended Duncan High School in Duncan, OK and graduated from Cameron College in Lawton, OK.
She has been a longtime Liberal Resident. She was employed as a secretary for several Oil Companies and also worked for the Liberal Public Library, the Kansas SRS Dept. and later was an Avon Salesperson. She was a Girl Scout Leader, taught Sunday school and was a member of the First Christian Church. She also was a member of the Liberal Women’s Club and the Baker Art Center. She was an avid bridge player, and like to watch the Wheel of Fortune on TV, and enjoyed reading bestselling novels.
In 1955 she married Raymond Combee. In 1980 she married Bob Thornton and he survives.

2 Granddaughters Bailey Bellamy of Newkirk, OK and Shanna Jansson of Wichita, KS.
She is preceded in death by her parents 1 son Bruce Evan Combee, 1 daughter Linda R. Johnstone and 1 sister Juanita Oleson.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday at the First Christian Church with Pastor Terry Ford presiding. Burial will be held at Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation time will be held from 9am to 8pm Tuesday at Brenneman Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8pm Tuesday .
In lieu of flowers and plants the memorial contributions can be sent to the First Christian Church in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901
