Norma Jean Bricker

Norma Jean Bricker, age 75, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born February 5, 1937 in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde Henry and Iva Ileen (Oliver) Bricker.

Norma Jean moved to Ulysses when she was ten years old. She graduated from Ulysses High School and then attended Ft. Hays State University. Norma Jean enjoyed traveling the world with her Mother. At the age of 20, she began her career with the library. She was the librarian at Grant County Library until she retired in 1997 to care for her Mother. While living at Park View Assisted Living Norma Jean was the President of Resident Council and conducted Bible studies. She moved to The Legacy at Park View in November 2008. At almost anytime, you could find Norma Jean reading a book. She was a longtime member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church.

She is survived by her niece, Audra Rowson of Martinez, Georgia; and two great-nephews, Markus and Christian Rowson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Warrena Bricker Balcomb.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 9:30 AM at the Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Bill Harrold officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grant County Library in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
