Norma Jean Berens, 88, of Liberal, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home.
She was born on December 5, 1934 to Frank and Helen (Wiegel) Bittle at Victoria, KS.
On August 21, 1954 she married Arthur J. “Ace” Berens at Gorham, KS; he preceded her in death on November 23, 2005.
Norma was a graduate of Gorham High School; class of 1952. She had worked as a Bookkeeper for RC Williams Trucking, Carlile Water Well, Jimmie Rogers Trucking along with working with Ace at their business Orbit Tool and Supply. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling & gambling with Ace. Norma was a member of the Desk & Derrick Club, Daughter’s of Isabella, and the First National Bank Prestige Club. She and Ace were active members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Norma is survived by two sons, Tom Berens and wife, Jeannie, Falcon, CO., and Curtis Berens, Liberal, KS; one daughter, Renee Young and husband, Jim, Turpin, OK.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Berens and wife Terra of Castle Rock, CO, Michael Berens and wife Cheyenne of Pittsburgh, PA, Zachary Berens and wife Brittany of Ponca City, OK, Dylan Berens and wife Tia of Liberal, Dustin Berens of Hays, KS, Matthew Young of Kaw City, OK and Micaela Young and Fiancé Laike Wilhelm of Ponca City, OK; six great grandchildren, Cooper Dawn, Peyton, Kouper Dale, Brooks, Wilder, and Axel plus many nephews & nieces.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Francis Bittle, and one daughter-in-law, Mimi Berens.
Viewing will be 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm Monday December 4, 2023 at Miller Mortuary.
Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Monday December 4, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 5, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow the Funeral Mass at Restlawn Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826
