Nita Marjorie (Creeden) Sunderland

Nita Marjorie (Creeden) Sunderland, 92, died Thursday morning, September 12, 2019 at Advance Health Care of Aurora, Colorado. She was born February 26, 1927 to Martha Henrietta (Dye) and Ellsworth C. Creeden in Sublette, Kansas. She married Ralph Hulsey “John” Sunderland on October 5, 1945 in Satanta, Kansas.

Nita worked as a cook in the Sublette and Satanta hospitals for many years. When she wasn’t working you could find her bowling. She bowled on a league for over 60 years, traveling all over the country for tournaments. Later in life she enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies play baseball. She especially enjoyed attending one of their homes games this last year.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Susan Sutton and Don Letourneau of Aurora, CO; two sons, Joe Edward Sunderland and wife Connie of Coldwater, KS, and Rex John Sunderland and wife Patty of Satanta, KS; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Janie Deewall of Coldwater, KS, and Mary Allingham of San Diego, CA; a brother, Jim Creeden and wife Gladys of Sublette, KS.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Moore and Wanda Creeden; brothers, Dorsey, Bob, Jack, Ben and Bill Creeden,

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Sublette, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Sublette Church of the Nazarene with Dallas Tharp officiating. Interment will be at Dudley Township Cemetery immediately following the service.
