Nina Geraldine “Jerry” Westfall

Nina Geraldine “Jerry” Westfall, 91, died Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Western Prairie Senior Living in Ulysses, Kansas.  She was born February 01, 1930, in Goodland, Kansas, the youngest of twelve children, to Henry and Edna (Gardner) Johnson.  

Jerry grew up on a farm near Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School.  She married Joseph Wayne Westfall on September 26, 1954, in Raton, New Mexico.  Jerry enjoyed many years of being a housewife and devoted mother to her two sons.  She supported them in all their endeavors and attended all their activities.  Jerry spent many hours at the baseball field keeping score for her son’s games.  Jerry and Wayne enjoyed traveling with a bowling league, a hobby she began after his retirement.  She was also an avid sports fan of the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and the KU basketball team and never missed a game on TV.

Jerry is survived by her two sons, Louis Westfall of Olathe, and Lowell Westfall and wife Paige of Abilene, Kansas; three grandchildren, Brodie Wayne Westfall, Jerod Brett Westfall, and Brooke Ashley Cornell; and two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Gavin Cornell.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne in 2018; and six brothers, Bob, Harold, Morris, Sherman, Wayne and Jack; and five sisters, Vonna, Max, Fern, Hazel and Vera. 

A private family funeral service will be held with interment at the Ulysses Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Grant County Recreation for the Little League Baseball program in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.  Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
