Neatta Jo Ozborn

Neatta Jo Ozborn, age 81, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born August 1, 1940, in Plainview, Texas, the daughter of Johnnie and Lola (Summers) Fox.

Neatta grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. She married Johnny Ozborn, Sr. on February 23, 1958, in Plainview at the Bethel Baptist Church. They moved to Ulysses in 1963. Neatta and Johnny enjoyed attending square dances. Neatta cooked at the care home for several years before going to work at USD 214 High School as a cook. She enjoyed seeing the kids everyday and retired after 26 years of service. Neatta enjoyed spending time with her family and was an active member of the Celebration Baptist Church.

Neatta is survived by her son, John Ozborn and wife Cheri of Ulysses; daughter, Beth Sharp and husband Jim of Ulysses; sisters, Thelma Sammann and husband Elbert of Amarillo, Texas, and Carolyn Alvis and husband Jackie of Plainview, Texas; three grandchildren, Chris Ozborn and wife Helena, Sara Loya and husband Adrian, and Amanda Ozborn and wife Kat Torres-Ozborn all of Ulysses; and seven great-grandchildren, Idgy Bones Ozborn, Isaak, Nicklas, Moses and Noah Loya, Korbin Torres and Elora Torres-Ozborn.

Neatta is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny Ozborn, Sr.; daughter, Lori E. Ozborn; brother, Sonny Fox; and granddaughter, Rochelle Nicole Ozborn.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Celebration Baptist Church in Ulysses with Pastor Jon Becker officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
