Naomi Ruth Rine, 83, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
She was born on March 12, 1934 to Martin and Ellen (Plunkett) McKee at Moyers, OK.
On October 31, 1952 she married Philip at Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1991.
She attended school at University High School in Norman, Oklahoma. Naomi married Philip while he was serving in the US Navy. After being “talked into it” by her husband and brother Charles Geyer Naomi and her cousin Joan Westbrook took the “big step” and joined the United States Naval Reserve, where she worked in telecommunications. Naomi was a homemaker and loved caring for her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of the community and was involved with many organizations including: Meals on Wheels, Liberal Chamber of Commerce Welcome Wagon, being a Webelos Den Mother, the Liberal Senior Center as a Dance Director and Bus Driver. She was a Pro Life Activist and active with Birthline. Naomi was also a dedicated member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was a lector and vocalist, drove the Catholic School Bus and a member of St. Anthony’s Alter Society. She was also a proud active member of the Choctaw Nation.
Naomi is survived by Six Sons- David Rine and wife Janie of Liberal, KS, Joe Rine of Liberal, KS, Jim Rine and wife Sue of Fairbury, NE, Mike Rine and wife Monette of Liberal, KS, John Rine and wife Christina of Plano, TX, Lee Rine of Little Elm, TX; Four Daughters, Mary Prouty of Wichita, KS, Melanie Ossman and husband Mike of Wichita, KS, Rebecca Rine of Liberal, KS, Teresa Hommertzheim and husband Rodney of Guthrie, OK; 33 Grandchildren and 42 Great Grandchildren; her Caretaker and friend- Darlene Webb.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three daughters- Daughter, Carlotta Ann Rine, Pamela Sue Rine, and Virginia Leigh Rine, three grandchildren- Christopher Rine, Jordan Prouty, and Jerrod Gragg. Two Brothers- Earl Geyer and Charles Geyer; Two Sisters- Julia Thomas and Irma McKee.
Viewing will be 10:00am – 5:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at Miller Mortuary.
Rosary Service will be 7:00 PM Friday , May 12, 2017 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 13, 2017, at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Fr. James P Dieker, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery.
